Milk production in Ukraine is declining. Results of 10 months

Gross milk yield for 10 months of the current year amounted to 7 million 528.4 thousand tons, which is 6% less than for the same period last year. This was due to a significant drop in production in households.

This was reported by analyst of the Association of Milk Producers Yana Linetska.

Industrial sector:

Agricultural enterprises provided 2 million 305.8 thousand tons of raw milk, which is 0.6% less than on this date last year. The largest increase in volumes was provided by the farms of Ternopil (+ 13.9%; 97.6 thousand tons), Kherson (+ 10.1%; 41.5 thousand tons) and Vinnytsia (+ 5.9%; 187.8 thousand). t) areas. At the same time, the main shaft was provided by producers of Poltava (326.7 thousand tons), Cherkasy (242.3 thousand tons) and Kharkiv (206.6 thousand tons) regions.

Households:

Households produced 5 million 222.6 thousand tons of milk, which is 7.2% less than last year. This was mostly due to the decline in production in Kharkiv (-20.6%; 160.6 thousand tons), Cherkasy (-14.2%; 120.2 thousand tons) and Kherson (-13.6%; 165.7 thousand). t) areas.

Yana Linetska notes that no special changes in the dynamics should be expected by the end of the year.

"Most likely, the annual decline in volumes will remain within 5-6%. The industrial sector will show the stability of production with a symbolic reduction within one percent. But households will end the year with a significant deficit within 8-8.5%. Next year's events will depend more than ever on government decisions. The industry has reached a critical point when without influential supportive action there is no further movement. First of all, it is necessary to address the issue of the tax burden on both producers and consumers, and to increase subsidies for the livestock and dairy industries", - said the expert.
