According to the results of seven months of the current year, milk production of all types in Ukraine decreased by 6% and amounted to 5,190.2 thousand tons. The growth of official statistics was noted only in Khmelnytsky region - 388.8 thousand tons (+ 1%).
This was reported by analyst of the Association of Milk Producers Yana Linetska.
The industrial sector provided 1,616.7 thousand tons of raw milk during the analyzed period, which is 1.1% less than in 2020. The largest increase in production is observed in Ternopil (68.3 thousand tons; + 13.5%), Kherson (29.1 thousand tons; + 7.8%) and Khmelnytsky (111.9 thousand tons; +6.6 %) areas.
The homestead sector reduced production by 8.1% to 3,573.5 thousand tons. It is uncharacteristic that households in the largest dairy regions began to significantly reduce milk production. If earlier the main reduction was in the occupied territories and the West, now it is Vinnytsia (-13.2%; 264.8 thousand tons), Chernihiv region (-14%; 115.2 thousand tons), Kharkiv region (-19 , 2%; 117.2 thousand tons).
Milk production by sectors and regions, thousand tons
The expert notes that the reduction in milk production is currently seasonal, which in turn affects the growth of purchase prices in the domestic market, despite global market trends. It should be noted that the indicative price of milk in the world has been falling since April, but against the background of prolonged summer fires in a number of European countries, this situation may soon change.
In the third quarter, we should expect a reduction in milk production within seasonal fluctuations. Based on livestock statistics, which show stability for several months, the industry has set a course for stabilization.
