Farms of the Association of Milk Producers took part in a meeting with the President in Chernihiv Region

Valerii Kolosha, the head of PAE "Piskivske", the founding farm of AMP, raised acute problems for dairy farming during the meeting of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi with the agrarians of Chernihiv region. The region ranks 3rd in the number of cattle and in terms of milk production.

According to Mr. Kolosha, one of the main constraints to the development of dairy farming, as well as dairy and meat processing, is the lack of available funding: "I have been involved in dairy farming for over 20 years. At one time, our farm took a risk and installed the fifth milking parlor in Ukraine - thanks to the effective program of cheaper agricultural loans in that single year.  Currently, there are no similar lending programs."

In addition, he noted that the new pain of dairy farming - the lack of conditions in the market of agricultural land mechanisms for guaranteed preservation of the land bank, necessary for growing roughage, which is an average of 2 hectares per cow.

Therefore, during his speech, Mr. Kolosha stressed the need for effective livestock support programs:

  • introduction of affordable loans for the agricultural sector,
  • granting preferential and priority right to purchase agricultural land for agricultural enterprises engaged in dairy farming, at the rate of 2 ha / cow, even during the transition period of 2021-2024.
  • He also stressed the negative consequences of the introduction of quotas on imports of mineral fertilizers and called on the President to prevent the final monopolization of the domestic market of mineral fertilizers and the inevitable, in this case, increase in the cost of agricultural production.
