On November 12, 2024, the Deputy Director of the Association of Milk Producers (AMP), Olena Zhupinas, together with AMP President Andriy Dykun, participated in a meeting of Ukrainian agricultural associations with the World Bank Director for Eastern European Affairs, Robert Som, the World Bank Regional Manager for Agriculture and Food (Europe and Central Asia region), Holger Krai (Germany), and the Bank's Lead Agricultural Economist, Irina Shuman (Romania).
During the meeting, the support of the World Bank for Ukraine's agri-food sector was discussed.
Andriy Dykun thanked the World Bank team for financing the "5-7-9%" lending program and raised the issue of increasing the lending limit for dairy farmers to UAH 300 million. They also discussed financing for irrigation, compensation for the cost of mineral fertilizers, construction of biogas plants based on dairy farms, as well as the modernization of old and construction of new dairy farms based on the Reference Dairy Farm Model developed by AMP and IFC within the framework of the joint project "Development of the Dairy Industry of Ukraine."
Dairy farming can become the foundation for the revival of the economies of many rural communities. The World Bank should take this into account in its future programs,
emphasized Andriy Dykun.
It should be noted that all present representatives of agricultural associations supported the development of the dairy industry in Ukraine. In addition, significant attention was paid to the need to raise awareness among Ukrainian farmers about EU integration requirements for the agricultural sector in general and livestock farming in particular, determining the cost of transitioning the Ukrainian agricultural sector to European standards, and the possibilities of attracting financing for the corresponding restructuring of the sectors.
It was agreed to continue the dialogue in the near future.
