Switzerland allocated funding to support milk production farms in those regions affected by hostilities, namely: in Chernihiv, Kyiv and Sumy regions.
The goal of the project is to ensure food security in general and in particular by improving access for the population of Ukraine to high-quality and safe dairy products produced in Ukraine.
Thus, at the request of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in cooperation with the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine (AMР), the international charity fund #SaveUA and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, a humanitarian project funded by the Government is being implemented under the coordination of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine Switzerland.
This week, #SaveUA started delivering humanitarian aid to 77 dairy enterprises from the de-occupied territories. Farms will receive means for washing and disinfecting milking equipment, pre- and post-milking udder treatment, napkins for udder hygiene, gloves, reagents for detecting hidden forms of mastitis, disinfectants for livestock premises, etc., which will fully cover their quarterly needs.
Maintaining the hygiene of milk production plays an important role in ensuring the safety of milk. Implementation of the project will make it possible to avoid disruptions in the further processing of milk, on the one hand, and outbreaks of diseases among consumers, on the other. #SaveUA, together with partners, will prevent the risk that a low level of milking hygiene will lead to the deterioration of animal health at the farm level, starting a negative cycle of the spread of diseases, which will also have a negative impact on the safety of food products.
We emphasize that in order to restore the capacity of the dairy sector of Ukraine, it is important to support production technologies that are built on compliance with high hygiene standards for high-quality and safe food products.
For reference: as of November 7, 2022, the delivery of humanitarian aid has begun at 77 dairy enterprises, of which 27 are from Chernihiv Oblast, 31 are from Kyiv Oblast, and 19 are from Sumy Oblast.
